Guidelines for Council, Committee or Task Force Membership
- In most cases, council, committee or task force members will be members of SFCVB.
- - Exception: the Convention and Travel Industry Customer Advisory Councils are composed of customers rather than Bureau members.
- - Non-members may be appointed on the basis of expertise that enables the individual to make a significant contribution to the council, committee or task force.
- - Each council, committee or task force will include a Chair.
- - Councils, committees and task forces will consist of the appropriate number of members necessary to fulfill their mission.
- - As appropriate, councils, committees and task forces should represent the diversity of Bureau membership, including type and size of business, geographic representation, gender, ethnicity, etc.
- - Council and committee members are appointed for one year, with reappointment based on significant contributions to the committee. Task force members generally serve for the duration of the project. New task force members may be added as expertise is required.
- - Exception: Members of the Convention Customer Advisory Council serve three-year terms. Members of the Tourism Customer Advisory Council serve one-year terms with the option to serve multiple terms.
- - Council/committee members may be reappointed to serve a maximum of two consecutive one-year terms on a council or committee. Council/committee members who have served two one-year terms may be reappointed after at least one year has elapsed.
- - Exception: Hotel representatives, the city Director of Convention Facilities, and the representative of the Moscone Center serving on the Convention & Meetings Council are not subject to term limits.
- - Term of council/committee membership is July 1 through June 30 of the following year, consistent with the SFCVB’s fiscal year.
